WarMap ("we", "our", or "the App") is a real-time global conflict monitoring application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use our mobile application and website.

2. Information We Collect

  • Device information: device model, operating system version, unique device identifiers (for push notifications and analytics).
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging token: used solely to deliver push notifications you have opted into.
  • Usage data: screens viewed, features used, session duration — collected anonymously to improve the App.
  • Advertising identifiers (IDFA/GAID): used by Google AdMob to serve relevant ads. You can reset or opt out of personalized ads in your device settings.
  • Language preference: stored locally on your device to display content in your chosen language.

3. Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or any personal contact information.
  • We do not require account creation or login.
  • We do not collect precise GPS location data.
  • We do not access your contacts, photos, camera, or microphone.

4. How We Use Information

  • Deliver push notifications for conflict alerts you have configured.
  • Display relevant advertisements through Google AdMob.
  • Improve app performance, stability, and user experience.
  • Generate anonymous, aggregated usage statistics.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

  • Google AdMob — advertising (Google Privacy Policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy)
  • Firebase Cloud Messaging — push notifications (Firebase Privacy: https://firebase.google.com/support/privacy)
  • OpenAI API — content summarization and translation (processed server-side; no user data is sent to OpenAI)

6. Data Storage & Retention

We store conflict event data on our servers for a maximum of 48 hours. User preferences (language, alert settings, premium status) are stored locally on your device using AsyncStorage and are never transmitted to our servers.

7. Children's Privacy

WarMap is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Your Rights (GDPR / CCPA)

  • Right to access: request what data we hold about you.
  • Right to deletion: request deletion of your data.
  • Right to opt out: disable personalized ads in your device settings.
  • Right to data portability: request your data in a machine-readable format.
